Asphalt Shingle Roofing

Architectural asphalt is Charlotte's default roof for good reason: the best dollars-per-decade value in our climate, a massive range of colors, and repairs any honest roofer can make a decade from now. But 'asphalt shingle' covers everything from bargain three-tabs to designer triple-laminates — and the install quality matters more than the brand badge.

We install architectural-grade and better, full stop. Three-tabs can't handle Carolina wind events and we won't put our warranty on them. Your quote names the exact product line, wind rating and algae-resistance spec — because 'shingles' is not a material, it's a category.

Black streaks aren't dirt

Those dark streaks on half the roofs in your neighborhood? Algae, feeding on the limestone in older shingles, accelerated by our humidity. Modern AR (algae-resistant) shingles with copper granules shut it down for 10–25 years depending on line — one of those small spec details that separates a roof that looks new at year ten from one that looks tired at year five.

Questions

Straight answers

Which shingle brands do you install?
The major manufacturers' architectural lines — named specifically in your quote with wind and algae specs, so you can compare apples to apples.
What colors work best in Charlotte?
Mid-tone weathered woods and grays hide pollen and wear best. We'll bring boards and show you full-roof photos, not chip-sized swatches.
Do darker shingles make the house hotter?
Marginally, but attic ventilation matters far more. We review intake/exhaust on every quote — it affects both comfort and shingle lifespan.
Are 'lifetime' warranties real?
'Lifetime' means a pro-rated manufacturer schedule with conditions. We'll show you the actual coverage curve — and our 10-year workmanship warranty covers the part most failures actually come from: installation.
