Pricing, straight up
What does a service call cost?
The diagnostic visit is $89, and it's waived entirely when we do the repair. You get a full inspection, photos of the problem, and a flat written quote. No quote-then-creep — the bill matches the paper.
What do typical repairs run?
Most AC and heat pump repairs land between $150 and $650 — capacitors and contactors at the low end, motors and refrigerant work higher. Furnace repairs run a similar band. Anything bigger gets the repair-vs-replace math shown before you commit.
And a whole new system?
$6,000–$14,000 installed, depending on size and efficiency tier. That's complete: equipment, labor, permits, haul-away, warranty registration and rebate filing. We quote three options — good, better, best — with operating costs for each.
Is financing real or a teaser?
Real: 0% for 18 months on new systems for qualified buyers, through a third-party lender whose terms you'll see before signing anything. We'll also tell you when paying cash plus the Duke rebate beats financing — because sometimes it does.
How do Duke Energy rebates work?
Qualifying high-efficiency systems and smart thermostats earn utility rebates that change seasonally. We confirm current amounts in your quote and file the application before installation — you get the credit without chasing paperwork.
Midnight
Emergencies and timing
Are you really 24/7, or "24/7"?
Really. The line is answered every hour of every day, including holidays, and the average callback is under 20 minutes. No-cooling and no-heat calls dispatch same-day in nearly every case.
What should I do before the tech arrives with no cooling?
Set the thermostat to off (not lower), check the filter, and check the breaker once — don't keep resetting a breaker that re-trips. If there's ice on the lines, switching the fan to "on" speeds the thaw and our diagnosis.
What about no heat — anything I can check myself?
Filter, thermostat batteries, and the furnace switch (it looks like a light switch and gets bumped constantly). If you have a gas furnace and smell gas, leave the house first and call Piedmont Natural Gas or 911 from outside, then us.
Do nights and weekends cost extra?
Non-members pay a modest after-hours dispatch fee, quoted on the phone before anyone rolls. Comfort Club members pay zero overtime fees, ever — it's one of the membership's quiet superpowers.
Decisions
Repair, replace, maintain
How do you decide repair vs. replace?
The $50 rule, printed on our quotes: if the repair costs more than $50 × the system's age in years, replacement usually wins. A $300 fix on a 12-year-old unit? Repair. A $1,200 fix on the same unit? You'll see both paths priced.
How long do systems last in Charlotte?
Our climate works equipment hard: 10–15 years for heat pumps (they run year-round), 12–17 for ACs and furnaces. Maintenance is the variable — Club systems reliably reach the far end of those ranges.
What exactly is the Comfort Club again?
$19/mo: two 21-point precision tune-ups a year (spring cooling, fall heating), priority scheduling during peak weeks, 15% off all repairs, zero overtime fees, full service history on file. Additional systems $9/mo. No contract — cancel anytime.
Why is my power bill so high in summer?
In order of likelihood for Charlotte homes: duct leakage (20–30% is typical), a system low on charge limping along, strip heat engaging on a faulty heat pump, or an oversized unit short-cycling. All four are measurable — that's the diagnostic.
Do you work on my brand?
Yes — we service every major residential brand. Parts for the common Charlotte-market brands ride on the trucks; rarer parts usually arrive next-day.
